Apple joins forces with the WSL to power the next era of women’s football

Another groundbreaking partnership has made its way into the Women’s Super League (WSL) and the Women’s Super League 2 (WSL2), as Apple announces their collaboration with both divisions. For Apple, it marks their first ever partnership in women’s football, but more than that, it’s their first partnership with a women’s only league in Europe, and one that is welcomed with open arms from both sides.

From match analysis to team talks, Apple’s technology is about to become part of the everyday fabric of the women’s game. Coaches will be armed with iPad Pros on the touchline, analysts will be clipping footage on MacBook Pros, and 4th officials will be swapping paper for digital team sheets on iPad Airs. Even the comms between dugouts and analysts will sound slicker thanks to the new iPhone 17 Pro and AirPods Pro 3.

But this partnership goes far beyond new gadgets. It’s about giving every club in the WSL and WSL2 access to the same high-quality tools to elevate performance, drive progress, and make competition across the leagues more balanced than ever. For newly promoted teams, that could be a game-changer. The technology on offer has the potential to narrow gaps, refine strategy, and level the playing field, both literally and figuratively.

When speaking about the collaboration, Zarah Al-Kudcy, WSL Football’s Chief Revenue Officer, said:

“We see this as a collaboration grounded in a shared ambition to drive meaningful transformation, and Apple has a remarkable history of revolutionising industries through its productsThat spirit of innovation deeply resonates with our aspirations for women’s football, and Apple’s products will help provide a solution for disparity in club technology access and team performance analysis.

This deal isn’t about ticking boxes, it shows meaningful progress. For years, one of the biggest challenges in women’s football has been access: access to funding, facilities, and even technology. By bridging that gap, the WSL and Apple are helping to ensure every team, regardless of budget or status, has the same opportunity to grow and compete.

Apple’s no stranger to revolutionising sport. They’ve already worked with Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League to name a few, and now, they’re turning their attention to the WSL. For a corporation as globally recognised as Apple to partner with a women’s football league, it speaks volumes about their forward-thinking mindset, as well as the growing status of the women’s game.

Scott Brodrick, Worldwide Product Marketing Manager from Apple said:

“Our aim is to enable innovation both on and off the pitch, and by placing our products into the hands of football’s most skilful athletes, we’re excited by what we can collectively achieve for women’s football.”

There’s something genuinely exciting about witnessing this partnership being introduced into the WSL and WSL2. It allows teams to reimagine tactics and analysis during the game. It’s the kind of tech that can shift margins, sharpen decisions, and bring even more drama and brilliance to matchdays.

More than just a technological leap, this collaboration represents belief in the players, the clubs, and the direction of the women’s game. The WSL has made no secret of its ambition to become the most competitive and entertaining league in the world. With Apple now part of that journey, that goal feels closer than ever.

The women’s game has already come so far since that unforgettable summer of 2022, and this partnership feels like another landmark moment on a journey that’s only just getting started.
