Euros 2025 in Switzerland: Match day Tickets with Included Public Transport for Seamless Stadium Travel

The presale for matchday tickets for the Women’s Euros 2025 in Switzerland began on October 1st, with the general sale starting on October 9th. During the presale alone, over 120,000 tickets were sold, and an additional 50,000 tickets were released the following week. Following the final tournament draw in December, another 120,000 tickets will become available.

Every ticket not only grants access to the game on the chosen matchday but also doubles as a travel card for public transport to the stadium. This thoughtful solution makes attending the games hassle-free, as all the stadiums are conveniently accessible by train, bus, or tram. It eliminates the need to find parking or pay for an often expensive taxi ride. But how much can you actually save with this option, particularly if you’re travelling from another country and don’t already have a Swiss travel card?

The stadiums hosting the games are spread across the country (refer to the map with stadium locations below), meaning some travel will be necessary to attend the games for which you’ve secured tickets. Depending on where in Switzerland you’ll be staying, transport costs to reach the stadium could otherwise be quite expensive.

Here’s an example with a brief cost breakdown:

If you’re staying in Bern and plan to attend a game in Zürich, an adult (aged 16 and up) would typically pay nearly 114 CHF for a 2nd class round-trip ticket (Bern-Zürich and back). Adding the cost of a matchday ticket (estimated at 60 CHF) brings the total to approximately 175 CHF.

Now, imagine you’re attending three games. The combined cost for travel within Switzerland and matchday tickets would reach nearly 525 CHF.

With the travelcard included in your matchday ticket, you’d pay just 180 CHF for the same experience (assuming a 60 CHF matchday ticket price). That’s a total saving of 345 CHF.

Of course, ticket prices are divided into three categories/price levels, and travel costs will vary depending on where you’re staying. This example is intended as a simple breakdown to illustrate potential savings for a visitor.

Including the day travel card with matchday tickets is an excellent initiative that may have gone unnoticed by some. It’s a smart and inclusive decision by UEFA and the host nation, Switzerland, particularly benefiting those traveling to support their teams—families, students, and tourists alike who want to be part of the excitement of a European Championship. This approach makes the event accessible to a broader audience.

Not only are international teams seeing a surge in fan support, but the host nation is also gaining increased recognition. In a promising sign for next year’s tournament, the Swiss National Team recently broke their all-time attendance record, with 14,370 fans attending Friday’s friendly match against Australia’s “Matildas” in Zurich. This marks a significant milestone for both the Euros and the growth of women’s football in Switzerland.
