Ahead of what promises to be a historic season, the London City Lionesses — one of the most talked-about teams in women’s football — have secured a landmark partnership with TOGETHXR, the athlete-owned media and commerce company founded by trailblazing women.
The company was founded by four of the most iconic figures in women’s sports: Alex Morgan, one of football’s greatest players; WNBA legend Sue Bird; double Olympic swimming gold medalist Simone Manuel; and Chloe Kim, the youngest-ever Olympic snowboarding champion.
This marks the first time ever that a womens-athlete led brand will be a front of shirt sponsor of a sports team, featuring the iconic ‘Everyone Watches Women’s Sports’ mark, with a small TOGETHXR logo elegantly placed beneath the quote on the shirt.
The owner of London City Lionesses, Michelle Kang, told the clubs official website:
“London City Lionesses was founded to reimagine women’s football – to be bold, independent, and drive women’s football forward. Our partnership with TOGETHXR reflects that same goal and allows us to do it at pace.”
The kit will make its debut in London City Lionesses’ first-ever Women’s Super League game, against Arsenal on Saturday, 6th September. More than just a uniform, it represents a union of shared values: LCL and TOGETHXR are united by a commitment to challenge the status quo in their respective fields, with a shared vision to grow a global fanbase in a rapidly expanding game.
The club haven’t held back in pre-season, most recently securing the signings of Katie Zelem and Alana Kennedy, bringing vital WSL experience to the squad. They’ve also added talents like Jana Fernandez, Poppy Pattinson, and Danielle van de Donk, among others, signalling their intent not just to stay up but to make waves at the top of England’s women’s game.
The fusion of these two powerhouse brands in women’s football is set not only to draw more eyes to LCL in their historic debut season but also to reinforce the belief that women’s football is here to stay—and that women’s sports will continue to grow, unstoppable and unstoppable.
