The National Football Museum has announced that the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 squad will be inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame. This includes the entire squad as well as head coach Sarina Wiegman.
The Lionesses will be inducted for retaining the European Championship. The victory is also England’s first major tournament win on international soil. The induction also celebrates the Lionesses’ unprecedented impact on the development of the women’s game. The Lionesses’ Euro 2025 trophy was also England’s first ever retention of a major tournament trophy, as well as their second European triumph under Wiegman.
Speaking on the Hall of Fame induction, Museum CEO Tim Desmond said:
“This squad made history – again. To win back-to-back European Championships is a phenomenal achievement, and it’s only right that we honour the team and Sarina Wiegman in our Hall of Fame. Their legacy goes beyond silverware; they’ve changed perceptions, brought the nation together, inspired future generations, and set new standards for English football.”
The group induction recognises all members of the squad, and how they all played a part in a hugely significant tournament. The formal Hall of Fame presentation will take place later this season and it is the latest in a series of women’s football events.
