With a plethora of experience at international level and a highly impressive number of goals, Lineth Beerensteyn is a star in any team she plays for. The 2025–26 season marked Beerensteyn’s final campaign with Frauen-Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, having joined the She-Wolves from Juventus in the summer of 2024.
Beerensteyn was born in The Hague, Netherlands in October 1996. She started out with DHC Delft before she played in the youth team at local club ADO Den Haag. At just sixteen years old, she broke into the latter’s first team, scoring 39 goals in 85 appearances.
Her other career stats reiterate this goalscoring proficiency – at Bayern Munich she scored 17 goals in 87 appearances, Juventus saw 22 goals in 66 appearances and across two years at Wolfsburg she recorded 25 goals in 41 appearances. Another skill is her blistering speed; she reached 31.2 kilometres per hour in a Champions League fixture for her most recent club this season.
Internationally, she is a class act. With 41 goals and 125 caps across a ten year spell, she is the fifth highest goalscorer in the Netherlands women’s national football team. She has risen through the ranks for her country, representing the Oranje Leeuwinnen (Orange Lionesses) across the under-15s, 16s, 17s and 19s age categories.
Beerensteyn has enjoyed success at both club and international level, winning the Frauen-Bundesliga with Bayern Munich in 2020–21 before helping the Netherlands lift the UEFA Women’s Euro title on home soil in 2017. In her debut season at Wolfsburg she was the league’s top scorer.
Her career continues to go on an upward trajectory amidst the personal achievements and accolades. Beerensteyn has now agreed a deal with Real Madrid and from the beginning of next season will be lining up for the Spanish heavyweights, who will be looking to win their first Liga F title, a trophy won many times by their rivals Barcelona.
Real Madrid are famed for playing counter-attacking football that focuses on keeping possession and creating chances quickly. The team often line up in attacking formations such as a 4-3-3. Therefore, this move suits her well because the team’s strategy plays to her main strengths; speed, making runs and scoring goals.
Lineth Beerensteyn is one of the top talents in the game right now and hopefully she can continue to shine at Real Madrid. Her career has been nothing short of remarkable, with the impact she has made at every club impossible to overlook.
