Selina Cerci made a name for herself in Germany early in her career, dominating defenders and consistently scoring match-winning goals. Debuting in the Frauen-Bundesliga at just 18, Cerci has shown her elite quality across multiple German clubs. Now, the Kiel-born player finds a new challenge in the streets of North London, looking to serve as an impactful forward for her new club.
Arsenal’s new signing of the summer has spent her entire professional career thus far on home soil. Developing, and later dominating in the Frauen-Bundesliga, Cerci’s rise was seen through multiple spells across the league. Cerci debuted as a young teenager in the first division of the league at Werner Breman, scoring an impressive 18 goals in 22 appearances over her time at the club. Moving to Turbine Potsdam two seasons later, Cerci quickly became her club’s most successful goalscorer and her ever-growing impact within the league led to her debut for the national team in 2022. While Cerci was on the way to being a valuable, young prospect for her country, her development was put on hold after she suffered an ACL the same year. Her injury ended her season early, and sadly forced her to sit out of the 2022 Euros and the 2023 World Cup. Her following season was spent at FC Köln while she hoped to regain momentum post-injury.
In 2024, a fully-recovered Cerci signed with TSG Hoffenheim, experiencing some of her most successful seasons yet. Scoring in only the 6th minute of her debut, Cerci set the tone for her two breakout seasons, scoring 32 goals in over 43 appearances. The 26-year-old’s intelligent plays, physicality, and clean finishing saw her become one of the biggest threats in the league. Nearing the end of the season at Hoffenheim, Cerci scored a hattrick against her former club, Köln, and subsequently made her the league’s top goalscorer, tying with Lineth Beerensteyn from Wolfsburg. Cerci also made an impact within Germany’s 2025 Nations League campaign, scoring another hattrick against Scotland, and was called up to represent her nation at the 2025 Euros where her team reached the semi-finals.
Looking for new opportunities in club football, Cerci answered the call to move to the WSL. Already being a longtime supporter of the club, Cerci felt that the move to North London was a straightforward decision.

Arsenal, who fell short last season finishing second in the WSL behind Chelsea, as well as narrowly missing out on the Champions League final, sought to strengthen their squad for the 26/27 season. Manager, Renee Slegers, voices that Cerci has a ‘real eye for goals’ and describes her as an ‘excellent fit’ for the club’s style of play. Slegers adds Cerci to her growing list of summer signings. The forward joins midfielders Georgia Stanway, Geraldine Reuteler, and former Barcelona defender Ona Batlle as an attacking threat and additional depth to the squad.
Arsenal enter the new season with promising talent and a stronger squad who are capable of challenging for silverware again. Continuing her rise away from her home country, Cerci’s new chapter in N5 will hopefully continue to see her on the scoresheet.
